- ECCB is only body that can provide license for credit bureau operation
- Grenada served by single licensed credit reporting agency, EveryData ECCU Limited
- Effective 1 January 2026, secondary Credit Information Providers began providing information to licensing authority in region
The relevant credit reporting data from customers of Grenada Development Bank (GDB), Grenada Electricity Services Limited (Grenlec), National Water and Sewerage Authority (Nawasa), and several other private companies are now in the hands of the licensed regional credit reporting bureau.
Effective 1 January 2026, the entities which are described as secondary Credit Information Providers began providing information to the licensing authority in the region. According to a notice in the 9 January 2026 edition of the Government Gazette, Dr Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), made the order on 18 December 2025.
The “Notice of Designation as Credit Information Provider Pursuant to Section 27(3) of the Credit Reporting Act,” said that the ECCB, pursuant to section 27(3) of the Credit Reporting Act, No. 22 of 2017 of the Laws of Grenada, has designated the following entities as Credit Information Providers in Grenada:
- Cable and Wireless (Grenada) Ltd.
- Digicel Grenada Ltd.
- Grenada Development Bank
- Grenada Electricity Services Limited
- Jonas Browne & Hubbards G’da Ltd.
- L A Purcell Holding And Trading Ltd.
- L L Ramdhanny & Co. Ltd.
- National Water and Sewerage Authority
The entities join the Grenada Cooperative Bank and ARIZA Credit Union as established Credit Information Providers. The 2017 Credit Reporting Act states that existing customers of designated credit information providers are not required to sign a consent form, but the institution must post a notice at its physical location or on its website.
“A person shall not inquire on the credit information respecting any data subject without first obtaining the consent of the data subject,” said the legislation which explains that a credit information provider may disclose to a credit bureau both negative and positive credit information without first obtaining consent from a data subject, if the credit information provider provides notice to the data subject that credit and personal information may be disclosed to a credit bureau.
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank is the sole body that can issue a license to operate a credit bureau. Currently, Grenada is served by a single licensed credit reporting agency for the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU): EveryData ECCU Limited.
The Credit Reporting Act provides for a fair and an accurate credit reporting system within the financial system in order to assure objective credit decisions; to enable credit information sharing and reporting; to provide for the regulation of the conduct of credit reporting and credit reporting services; to provide safeguard for data protection for customers of credit providers; to provide for a single space in the regulation of credit reporting and for related matters.
