The Rotary Club of Dominica marked a notable milestone in its history with the celebration of its 51st Investiture Ceremony, held on July 5, 2025, at the Plantation House in Castle Comfort. The event, which the Club says symbolized a new chapter of leadership and service, was conducted under the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency Mrs. Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, along with Mr. Burton.
A Rotary Club statement shared that the theme for this year’s installation was “Unite for Good,” emphasizing collective effort and community impact.
During the ceremony, PHF Rotarian Dr. Jermaine Jewel Jean-Pierre was officially inaugurated as the President for the 2025–2026 Rotary year. Her installation was conducted by Acting Assistant Governor PHF Cecil Shillingford, who presented her with her pin. As she assumes her new role, Dr. Jean-Pierre is tasked with guiding a dynamic Rotary Club into its next phase of service and community engagement.
In her keynote speech, she highlighted the core values of Rotary, stating, “It is our compassion and willingness to open our hearts, share our time, talent, and treasures that truly unite us for good, transforming ordinary Rotarians into extraordinary agents of change.”
The release shared that the event also featured an inspiring address from guest speaker Rev. Dr. Keith B. Lewis, Superintendent Minister of the Dominica Methodist Church. Dr. Lewis emphasized that true leadership is rooted in service and selflessness, asserting that “Leadership is not about titles or privileges, but about carrying the weight of others.”
He encouraged the new board members to lead by example, urging them to “preach always, and when necessary, use words.”
Reflecting on the achievements of the past year, Immediate Past President PHF Luana Laurent recounted a period marked by impactful community projects. Among the highlights were the reconstruction of the Massacre Walkway, improvements at Zaman Park in Mahaut, and the 30th Annual VOSH Eye Care Mission, which was a landmark event for the club. During this mission, more than 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses were distributed, and numerous referrals made, significantly enhancing vision care in underserved communities.

Additionally, a health fair was organized in the Kalinago Territory. The club’s signature event, the Original Souse and Punch Fundraiser, saw record-breaking attendance, reported the Club, helping to fund various Rotary initiatives throughout the year.
“These accomplishments represent just a few of the impactful projects that continue to shape communities across Dominica through the power of service,” said the statement.
The evening was also significant for welcoming a new member to the Rotary family. Michelle Joseph was officially inducted into the club, classified under Banking. Having actively participated in numerous Rotary activities over the previous year, Ms. Joseph’s decision to formalize her commitment to service was reportedly celebrated by those in attendance.
