Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines is canceling all trips to its private beach resort in Haiti due to what it says is safety concerns that are affecting the island nation.
As reported in an article from www.nj.com, Royal Caribbean recently altered its sailing itineraries to divert from stopping at its private island port in Labadee, which is about six hours from Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, according to Travel +Leisure.
The article further stated that Royal Caribbean is not sailing to its port in Haiti because of gang violence and political instability in the country, based on the latest travel advisory for Haiti from the State Department.
The State Department issued its “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory in September 2024, warning travelers specifically about “kidnapping, crime, civil unrest and limited health care.”
“The company has temporarily ceased its stops at its Haiti port and removed it from all routes,” the article said. “It is unclear whether Royal Caribbean will offer its Labadee, Haiti, port again at this time.”
