The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College claimed a dominant 97-run victory over the Saint Lucia Sports Academy in the grand showdown of the 2025 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament.
Winning the toss at Mindoo Phillip Park on Tuesday, SALCC went on the attack, racking up a competitive 245-5 in 36 overs. Captain Leon Alexander led the charge with a composed 56 (three fours, two sixes), supported by substantial contributions from Johnathan Daniel – 48, Darvin Forde – 30, Azarni Augustin – 22, and Yunieski Gustave – 11.
Despite SLSA’s bowling efforts, with Zinnaki Louis (2-26) and Clint Dickson (1-43) especially doing well, SALCC remained relentless, setting a target that demanded something special from their opponents.
The response from SLSA was shaky from the outset. Trevern Edward departed for a duck, caught behind off Darvin Forde’s fiery bowling. Though Sheldon Willie (47) and Clint Dickson (27) attempted a fightback, SLSA struggled to find momentum, finishing at 148-7 after 36 overs. Willie’s knock held the innings together, but he batted far too slowly to impact the outcome.
SALCC’s bowling attack kept their grip tight, with Tyler Venner (2-14) leading the charge, supported by Darvin Forde, Yunieski Gustave, Yulieski Gustave, Christian Peter, and Johnathan Daniel, who all chipped in with a wicket each.
