Kamil M. Neal, a proud daughter of the soil from Santa Elena Town, is set to return to Belize on November 7, 2025, carrying a renewed sense of purpose after representing the nation at the prestigious One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich, Germany (November 1 – 7, 2025)
Describing the event as “one of the most moving and powerful experiences of my life,” Neal joined over 2,000 young leaders from every corner of the globe to discuss and tackle the world’s most pressing issues. Upon her departure from Munich, Neal first gave thanks to God, her mother, siblings, and all the mentors who have supported her journey.
The summit featured powerful addresses from global figures, including Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan and activist Sir Bob Geldof, whose messages deeply resonated with Neal. She shared that their words, along with the moving stories of her peers, served as a powerful reminder that leadership is not about personal recognition, but about profound responsibility.
“Just when you think you’ve done enough, they remind you that there’s so much more to do,” Neal reflected. “The world needs more than words — it needs leaders who rise to lead, to act, and to shape the generation we need.”
A central theme of the summit was the redefinition of leadership as a moral duty guided by empathy. Neal was particularly struck by Sir Bob Geldof’s words, which she said she will “never forget.” Quoting him, she shared, “‘The glow of humanity is empathy.’ It’s a truth that sits quietly in your chest — reminding you that real strength lies not in control, but in compassion.” This principle, Neal explained, challenges leaders to be a force for good, guided not by ego but by a genuine desire to benefit everyone, everywhere. “We were reminded that Hope is not naive optimism — it’s the courage to fight for what is right even when the world looks broken,” she added.
As she prepares to return home, Neal carries these lessons as a compass for her future work. Now an official One Young World Ambassador, she feels more equipped and connected than ever to continue her advocacy.
“I’m for people — for justice, for equality, for those who are unseen and unheard,” Neal stated passionately. “I want to wake up to a world that remembers its humanity — and to be part of building it. The work must continue, but this time I know I have a team of 2,000 plus. I am not alone.”
Belize welcomes back one of its own, now part of a global network of change-makers, ready to apply her experience and inspiration to create a better future at home and beyond.
