By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The OWFA 2024-2025 Closing Championship continues tonight with two matchups at Louisiana Football Field. Fans are gearing up for another exciting football night, as teams aim to secure crucial points in the early stages of the competition.


The action kicks off at 7:30 pm, when Sandy Field take on Progresso Amateur, followed by August Pine Ridge Central facing Crystal at 9:30 pm.
Recap: Friday’s Matches
Friday night set the stage for competitive clashes. Yo Creek United, the reigning champions, blanked Guinea Grass FC 3-0, with Liam Reyes scoring twice (37’, 42’) and Juan Diaz sealing the win in the 52nd minute. Meanwhile, LA Tigers secured their first win—albeit by default—as San Jose FC arrived late, forfeiting their scheduled match.
Sunday Morning Matches & PLB Semifinal
The weekend action continues on Sunday morning at People’s Stadium, where fans can catch:
🔹 San Estevan Soccer Team vs. TF Legends (11:00 am)
🔹 Mi Gente vs. San Jose Pumas (1:00 pm)
Later in the afternoon, the Premier League of Belize (PLB) semifinal will see Progresso FC face Verdes FC at 4:00 pm. Fans attending the OWFA matches earlier in the day will enjoy a $10 entrance fee, which grants them access to the PLB semifinal as well. However, those arriving after 2:00 p.m. will need to pay the standard $15 entrance fee.
With Saturday night’s battles shaking up the tournament standings, football fever is reaching new heights in Orange Walk. Whether in local league play or the PLB semifinals, fans are in for a superb football weekend.
