By Horace Palacio: An accident that occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday night (early Friday morning) has left at least one person trapped following a collision between an SUV and a cane truck near San Pablo Village, Orange Walk.
Reports indicate the SUV was pinned under the rear of the loaded cane truck, prompting immediate calls to emergency services. Fire and ambulance crews were dispatched to assist with rescue operations.
The extent of the injuries remains unknown, but rescue efforts were still underway as of early Friday morning. The crash comes during a busy period of cane transport on Belize’s highways, raising safety concerns over late-night hauling and visibility.
More information is expected once officials complete their on-site investigation.
