
SIX people have died in a horror fireball car crash next to the US Embassy in Lisbon.
All of the victims are believed to have died inside the flaming wreckage after the driver lost control in the early hours of this morning.
The victims were made up of three boys and three girls all aged between 18 and 20, police confirmed.
Terrifying reports of a deadly blaze in the Portuguese capital were first made at around 3.40am.
The BMW driver had veered off the road after becoming “distracted” at the wheel, according to local reports.
Moments later, the car reportedly smashed into a barrier and was set on fire within seconds.
The tragic crash took place on the Avenida das Forcas Armadas, which translates as Armed Forces Avenue in English, in Lisbon’s Sete-Rios area.
Firefighters and police, who are conducting an ongoing investigation, remained at the scene early this morning after daybreak.
The nationalities of the victims are yet to be released as investigations continue.
Forensic experts remain at the scene with the road being sealed off.
