THE SOUTH CENTRAL Division of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) celebrated officers for outstanding service and commitment to the organisation at its annual Police Appreciation and Awards Ceremony on March 28, 2025, at the Calliaqua Town Hall.
Several officers were formally recognized for exceptional performance and presented with plaques and vouchers in appreciation of their dedication, a release from the RSVGPF said.
The following were awarded as the most outstanding in their respective categories: Traffic Officer: PC 1037 Malcolm Hazelwood.
Detective: PC 647 Jeremiah Roberts. Glen Outpost Unit: PC 835 Gracia Butler.
Argyle Outpost: PC 428 Chevorn Bailey.
Calliaqua Police Station: PC 955 Kellano Campbell.
Biabou Police Station: PC 725 Eston Jordan.
Stubbs Police Station: PC 759 McKoy James.
Mesopotamia Police Station: PC 822 Kennie Tesheira.
Most Outstanding Driver: PC 140 Dillon Braithwaite.
Most Outstanding Rural Constable: RC Tedley Johnson.
Most Outstanding Traffic Warder:TW Petra Bailey.
Most Disciplined Police Officer: PC 1085 Garfield Thomas.
Most Outstanding Court Officer: Cpl 797 Desran Simmons.
Best at Evidence Handling: PC 822 Kemie Tesheira.
Delivering the keynote address on the theme “Serving with Excellence to Keep Our Citizens Safe,” Amoy Munroe, Director of Operations at Trinity Medical Sciences University, Amoy Munroe emphasized that community safety is not the sole responsibility of law enforcement.
“Opportunities for crime reduce significantly when citizens and police work together,” she told members of the division which is the largest and one of the most strategically important Divisions in the country.
Munroe praised the Calliaqua Police for their fast response times and strong community engagement. She encouraged residents to take practical steps to support public safety, including securing their homes, improving outdoor lighting, and participating in neighbourhood watch groups. She also promoted the use of crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) to deter crime through smarter environmental planning.
Acting Commissioner of Police Enville Williams, who also addressed the gathering, recognized the Division’s vital role in maintaining national security. He outlined several upcoming infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Diamond Police Station, renovations to the Calliaqua Police Station, and the development of a modern Police Station at Stubbs with improved accommodation. He also encouraged officers to stay visible, conduct strategic patrols, and connect with residents, particularly the elderly and shut-ins. The Commissioner urged the rank and file to remain vigilant and continue building trust within each community.
