The Belize Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (BAPSS) is pleased to announce the election of its new executive committee, following a meeting held on September 25, 2025. This meeting included the election of a new executive of the BAPSS. Taking the helm as the new Chair of BAPSS is Ms. Jeaneane Neal, affectionately known in educational circles as Ms. Vanessa, the Principal of St. Ignatius High School.
Neal will lead a dynamic team of experienced school administrators committed to advancing secondary education in Belize. She is joined on the executive by a group of esteemed colleagues from across the country.
The newly elected BAPSS Executive for the upcoming term is as follows:
* Chair: Jeaneane Neal, Principal, St. Ignatius High School
* Vice Chair: Sherilyn Welch, Principal, Wesley College
* Treasurer: Angel Leiva, Principal, Bishop Martin High School
* Secretary: Rushawn Bowman, Principal, Pallotti High School
* Assistant Secretary: Justine Myvette, Principal, Valley of Peace SDA Academy
“I am deeply honored to take on the role of Chair for BAPSS and to work alongside such dedicated leaders,” said Ms. Neal. “Our collective goal is to foster collaboration, advocate for our schools and students, and continue to elevate the standards of secondary education across the nation. We are ready to build on the excellent work of our predecessors and tackle the challenges ahead.”
In addition to the executive body, BAPSS appointed several principals to represent the association on key national committees, ensuring that the voice of secondary school leadership is present in critical decision-making forums.
The representatives are:
* NSSSA Liaison: Matias Casanova, Corozal Community College
* NSSSA Ethics Committee: Shaunna Sanchez, Toledo Community College
* ATLIB Representative: Macario Coy, Corazon Creek Technical High School
* National Council for Education (NCE): Elmer Requena, Julian Cho Technical High School
* Joint Education Staff Relations Council (JESRC): Francisco Pivaral, Eden SDA High School
* National Sports Council (NSC): Dr. Ervin Casimiro, Georgetown Technical High School
* Belize Board of Teacher Education (BBTE): Dina Villafranco, Delille Academy
* Working Group for the Review of Standards for Teachers and School Leaders: Mr. Omar Longsworth, Independence High School
The association extends its profound gratitude to the outgoing executive, under the steadfast leadership of past Chair Ms. Deborah Domingo, Principal of Maud Williams High School. Her commitment and the hard work of her team have been invaluable to the progress of BAPSS.
