The Government of Grenada is closely monitoring the approaching Tropical Storm Melissa, currently threatening Jamaica and the northern Caribbean region.
We are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of all those in its path, especially our Grenadian students pursuing studies at various institutions across the island. We wish to assure the public that every effort is being made to ensure the security and well-being of our nationals.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Deputy Consul General in Miami Kerry Frank is actively engaged in outreach to students and coordinating with local authorities to provide necessary support and guidance.
In addition, the ministry is working diligently to facilitate the safe return of affected students to Grenada as early as tomorrow, depending on weather conditions and logistical arrangements.
We urge all Grenadian students in Jamaica to remain vigilant. Families in Grenada are encouraged to maintain communication with their loved ones and to reach out to the ministry for updates or assistance.
Our thoughts are with the people of Jamaica during this time, and we stand ready to offer support as needed.
