The winless run continued for Northside Stingerz in Division 1 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition when, o n Thursday, they were beaten 98-66 by Ottos Full Throttle in the opening game of a double-header at the JSC basketball complex.
Stingerz started strong with a dominant 23-17 first quarter win over the opponents. However, Full Throttle rebounded to claim the three remaining quarters 28-8, 22-17and 31-18 respectively.
Mali Newton was dominant for Full Throttle with a game-high of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Lenroy McFarlen with 16 points and 14 rebound and Warren Bogle with 15 points and 15 rebounds also contributed to the victory. Akeem Davis added 12 points and 12 rebounds to the triumph.
Jaheem James led the effort for Stingerz with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Ammiel Williams added 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Tristan Jacobs also performed credibly in the losing effort with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Also on Thursday, All Saints Slam enjoyed a comfortable 91-76 triumph over Spanish Heat when they met in the feature contest.
Humroy Wright was on fire for the winners, sinking a game-high of 32 points and grabbing five rebounds. Kim Casey contributed with 20 points while Lornie Joseph added 16 points and 18 rebounds.
Steven Matthew was the top performer for Spanish Heat with 17 points and five rebounds. Kelvyn Pimental and Nikon McGregor contributed with 12 and 10 points respectively. Pimental also grabbed 16 rebounds.
