
Dominica’s gold medalist Thea Lafond-Gadson, was officially presented the land title for property located in Warner, by Housing, Melissa Poponne Skerrit. The transfer occurred on April 8, 2025, as part of the Future Housing program.
According to a press statement shared by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Minister Skerrit expressed her joy in formally delivering the title certificate to Lafond-Gadson for what is described as a “gorgeous” plot in Warner, noted for its breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains; recognition granted in honor of her gold medal achievement at the 2024 Olympics.
Lafond-Gadson, says the release, shared her enthusiasm for receiving such a generous gift from the Government and the people of Dominica. She stated, “My husband and I are very excited to mark this new chapter in our lives […] I can’t help but think about our family and our children growing up in a home in Dominica – We have a piece of our own sanctuary and we look forward to building something special.”
Thea Lafond is celebrated as Dominica’s Olympic gold medalist in the triple jump. She has showcased her talent on international stages including the Olympics, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games. With a track record of success, she remains a formidable athlete, decidedly putting Dominica on the world stage.
