Cricket West Indies (CWI) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering diversity and inclusive leadership through the reappointment of three accomplished women to its Board of Directors. A statement issued by the organization said that this initiative is part of continued efforts to improve governance and incorporate a wider array of perspectives in the decision-making processes at the pinnacle of cricket management.
During the inaugural Board of Directors meeting of the new term, which took place in Antigua, Dr. Kishore Shallow and Azim Bassarath were re-elected as President and Vice President, respectively. In addition, Mrs. Debra Coryat-Patton (Trinidad & Tobago), Ms. Diann Campbell (Jamaica), and Mrs. Louise Victor-Frederick (Saint Lucia) were confirmed as Independent Directors, thereby ensuring their essential contributions to the growth and vision of CWI. This marks the second term in which Cricket West Indies has maintained the historic precedent of having three women on the Board simultaneously.
Diann Campbell, hailing from Jamaica, boasts nearly 30 years of experience in cricket administration, corporate governance, and strategic development. With her background in human resource management and political studies, she has significantly influenced CWI’s long-term strategies and operational success.
Louise Victor-Frederick from Saint Lucia, a Chevening Scholar, is a key player in corporate affairs, branding, and public relations. Her extensive expertise in business strategy and communications makes her an invaluable member of the board. Alongside her role at CWI, she is also a director of the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture.
Debra Coryat-Patton of Trinidad & Tobago returns to the board with her proficiency in law and corporate governance. As an attorney specializing in employment law, intellectual property, and governance, her reappointment underscores CWI’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in governance and accountability.
Moreover, Mr. Hallam Nichols (Barbados) has been reinstated as an Independent Director, thereby further enriching the board with his extensive business experience across telecommunications, entertainment, physical planning, and infrastructure development in the region.
CWI President, Dr. Kishore Shallow, highlighted the importance of these reappointments, stating:
“The reappointment of these outstanding women is a reflection of our deep and unwavering commitment to excellence in governance and gender inclusivity. This is not about tokenism, but a deliberate and ongoing effort to ensure that women’s leadership is not just acknowledged but actively embraced at every level. These women have played and will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of West Indies cricket, ensuring that we move beyond conversation and into meaningful, lasting action. We are also pleased to welcome back Mr. Hallam Nichols, a distinguished businessman whose influence and reach extend across the Caribbean and beyond, further strengthening the diverse expertise on our Board.”
This decision further emphasizes CWI’s ongoing commitment to establishing an inclusive and progressive leadership structure. With these appointments, the board is well-positioned to spearhead advancements and stimulate innovation within West Indies cricket, said the statement.
