By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Tiger Sharks and the Belikin Orange Walk Running Rebels sit jointly at the top of the 2026 NEBL standings, both improving to 2–0 after strong weekend performances.




San Pedro powered past the Belmopan Trojans 106–85 on Friday night at the UB Gym in Belmopan, while Orange Walk edged the EZ Investment Griga Dream Ballers 67–64 in a tense finish in Orange Walk.
San Pedro lead the league on point difference with 197 points scored and 170 conceded (GD +27), while the Rebels follow closely at 149 for and 129 against (GD +20).
Western Ballaz climb to third after comeback win
The Cayo Western Ballaz moved into third place at 1–1 (3 pts) after a huge fourth‑quarter comeback against the Belize City Defenders, winning 92–79 at the Victor Galvez Stadium in San Ignacio. Trailing 68–61 entering the final period, Cayo outscored the Defenders 31–11 to secure their first victory of the season.
With 177 points scored and 170 allowed (GD +7), the Ballaz sit just behind the unbeaten leaders.

Trojans drop to fourth after loss to San Pedro
The Belmopan Trojans slipped to fourth place (1–1, 3 pts) following their home defeat to the Tiger Sharks. Despite a competitive first half, Belmopan were overpowered late and now carry a –15 point difference after two games (165 for, 180 against).
Defenders fall to 0–2 after late collapse
The Belize City Defenders remain winless at 0–2 (2 pts) after letting a seven‑point fourth‑quarter lead slip away in San Ignacio. Their 144 points scored and 174 conceded (GD –30) place them fifth.
Griga and Corozal round out the table
The EZ Investment Griga Dream Ballers and the Corozal Spartans both sit at 1 point, each with a single loss.
Griga fell 67–64 to the Rebels, while Corozal dropped their opener 80–74.
Griga hold a –3 point difference, and Corozal sit at –6.
