By Zoila Palma: Tropic Air has confirmed that Captain Howell Grange, who was injured during an attempted hijacking on April 17, has been discharged from medical care and is now recovering at home.
Grange, who sustained 10 stab wounds in the incident, was released from Belize Healthcare Partners at 11:30 a.m. today.


His first stop was Divine Mercy Church, where he offered prayers of gratitude, crediting God for his survival.
In an interview with Channel 7, he thanked Belizeans for their prayers and support.
Tropic Air issued a statement acknowledging the resilience of its team and community. “While physical recovery continues, we know the experience may have lasting emotional impacts,” the airline said, adding that they remain fully committed to supporting all those affected.
In response to the incident, the airline also announced the implementation of enhanced safety and security protocols. “These updates are being designed to ensure the ongoing safety of our passengers, crew, and staff,” Tropic Air noted, promising a full update once the measures are finalized.
The company praised the strength and unity shown in the face of adversity, reaffirming its commitment to passenger and employee well-being.
