By Aaron Humes: A night out took a dangerous turn for two brothers as thry were shot at on the Philip Goldson Highway over the weekend, leaving one brother injured and the other unscathed.
23-year-old Jermaine Garnett Jr. was shot while riding his motorcycle late Saturday night, while his elder brother, 27-year-old Tyree Bernardez, was driving a separate vehicle nearby.


According to the police, the incident occurred when a vehicle approached Jermaine’s motorcycle and opened fire, hitting him once. Despite being wounded, Jermaine managed to maintain control of his bike and drove himself to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Garnett’s brother, Tyree, was not hurt during the incident.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provided details during a press briefing. “Information that he was coming from a nightclub and was on a motorcycle in the area when a vehicle came to the area and fired several shots towards his direction causing his injury. Another vehicle that was also in the area received damages. We are presently conducting investigations into this report, and we are seeking one suspect,” Romero explained.
“At this time, we do not have a motive,” Romero continued. He also indicated that Jermaine Garnett is known to the police but stated that this incident is not linked to any other ongoing investigations.
