Green Tie Gala
The 5th annual Green Tie Gala, held at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on 21 March, was a resounding success, celebrating the strong ties between Ireland and the Cayman Islands. The event also supported two vital causes: Autism Acceptance and the Fair Weather Foundation. The 550 guests enjoyed dinner presented by The Ritz-Carlton culinary team, as well as Guinness, Irish Tayto crisps, and an auction and raffle. Musical entertainment was provided by Dave Browne, Steph Hurley and DJ Natural.
Catwalk for Cancer
Catwalk for Cancer was held at The Paseo in Camana Bay on 20 March, with the annual fashion fundraiser raising more than $42,000 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. A runway showcase displayed a selection of resort wear, swimwear and luxury apparel all provided by Sand Angels, with Health City Cayman Islands acting as title sponsor for the event. As well as high-end fashion, the event showcased powerful stories of cancer survivors.
Scotiabank Women’s Day luncheon
Scotiabank hosted future leaders from the Girls’ Brigade, the YMCA and Inspire Cayman at a special luncheon at Grand Old House on 21 March. Exemplary women from across Scotiabank, led by vice president and country head Sarah Lee Hobbs, curated an experience for the young women that delved into the importance of discovering and using their talents to make a difference in the world.
Attendees were treated to a special inspirational talk from Governor Jane Owen, as well as a panel discussion that featured St. Ignatius student and youth leader Rio Windsor, attorney-at-law Gina Berry and the governor. The panel discussion was moderated by Hobbs.
More than 24 young women participated in the inspiring event, which was held under the theme ‘Accelerate Action’.
