Amin Mohammed Steel Pan Competition
As part of the National Children’s Festival of the Arts, the Amin Mohammed Steel Pan Competition showcased an exciting array of soloists and bands vying for gold, silver, and bronze awards.
Students from both primary and secondary schools showcased their talents and creativity through a mixture of contemporary and classic pieces, many with Caribbean influences.
A standout moment of the event was the opening solo by a West End Primary student, who delivered a gold-winning rendition of ‘Under the Sea’.
John Gray High School also impressed the crowd, earning two gold awards for exceptional performances. The competition was a vibrant celebration of Caymanian and Caribbean culture.
Disney’s Frozen Jr.
Cayman Music School’s production of ‘Disney’s Frozen Jr.‘ took place at the Harquail Theatre from 27-30 March, with 45 middle and high school students delivering four sold-out performances.
Each performance received a standing ovation, with audience feedback calling it “the best show we’ve ever seen” and “real Broadway in Cayman”, highlighting the professionalism and high standards set by director Inika Pierre and music director Inna Kazakova.
The production was brought to life with the support of dance lead Thandie Pierre, a dedicated crew, and parent volunteers. Two casts performed on alternating nights: Nicole Kazakova and Charli Foster starred as Elsa and Anna in the first cast, while Jodi Welman and Kayleigh Powell took on the roles in the second.
Female Farmers and Artisans Market
Fruits, vegetables and local plants, as well as artisan hair and skincare, artworks and board games were all on display at the 2025 Honouring Women Month Female Farmers and Artisans Market on Friday, 28 March on the Glass House lawn.
The annual event was hosted by the Gender Affairs Unit in collaboration with the CIG Wellness Committee, Ministry of Sustainability & Climate Resiliency and Wellness, and the Family Resource Centre.
It brings together female farmers and provides a platform for women in agriculture, who are typically under-represented in the industry, to promote their wares, whether small backyard farmers, larger commercial farmers, or agri-processors in cottage industries.
The market was the finale of this year’s Honouring Women Month.
