By Zoila Palma: The National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, has announced the winners of the Farmer of the Year 2025 competition.
This year’s honorees are:


- Senior Farmer of the Year: Gregorio Esquivel from the Corozal District
- Female Farmer of the Year: Naomi Requena from the Toledo District
- Junior Farmer of the Year: Juan Carrillo from the Orange Walk District
The Committee extended heartfelt congratulations to the awardees, commending their dedication, innovation, and tireless efforts in advancing Belize’s agricultural sector.
Recognition was also given to all participants and judges involved in this year’s competition, as well as to farmers across the country for their continued contribution to Belize’s food security and rural livelihoods.
The Committee further reminded the public that the National Agriculture and Trade Show 2025 is scheduled for May 30, 31, and June 1, and will be held under the theme: “Integrating Sustainable Food Systems: Mitigating Climate Change, Strengthening Agricultural Resilience.”
The annual event is expected to draw large crowds and will showcase the best of Belizean agriculture, agribusiness, and innovation.
