By Horace Palacio: A 16-year-old girl was assaulted during a home invasion in the Jane Usher area of Port Loyola early Sunday morning.
Around 4:40 a.m., the teen woke up to find a man on top of her, covering her mouth and threatening to kill her if she screamed. Despite the threat, she called out to her grandmother, prompting the attacker to punch her in the face before fleeing through the front door.

The suspect entered the home by removing window louvers and climbing a wooden ladder. Nothing was stolen, but the girl’s phone—originally charging in the living room—was found beside her after the attack.
Police are investigating. The suspect remains at large.
