By Horace Palacio: Belize is experiencing cooler and windier conditions today following the arrival of a cold front, which swept into the region early this morning.
The National Meteorological Service reports mostly cloudy skies with lingering showers or periods of light rain, particularly across central and coastal areas. Tonight, the rainfall will concentrate over offshore waters and southern coastal communities.

Temperatures have dropped noticeably, especially inland. Coastal highs will hover around 80°F (27°C) while inland regions will see temperatures dip as low as 62°F (17°C) overnight. Elevated terrain will be even cooler, with lows near 59°F (15°C).
Winds from the north to northwest are blowing at 10–20 knots, occasionally gusty. As a result, choppy to rough seas are expected, with waves between 3 and 7 feet. A Small Craft Caution remains in effect, and mariners are urged to navigate cautiously or stay in harbor.
Looking ahead, Wednesday is expected to be dry, cool, and windy, with no major rainfall anticipated.
