
Forty-five individuals who have participated in the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Programs received certificates at a ceremony held on Thursday.
The program which was sponsored by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and Skills for Youth Employment in the Caribbean (SKYE) took place at the St Alphonsus Parish Hall.
Education Minister Octavia Alfred who delivered the Keynote address said the ceremony marks a culmination of months of dedication, discipline, and determined efforts.
“It’s a profound honor and a joy to stand before you today as we celebrate the significant milestone in the lives of our men and women who have chosen the path of skill, discipline, and transformation through technical and vocational training,” she said. “This ceremony marks a culmination of months of dedication, discipline, and determined efforts.”
Alfred continued, “You our graduates have journeyed through rigorous training and practical application to emerge not only with certificates which are recognized within CARICOM, but with competences, valuable skills, that will contribute to your personal and professional lives and to society.”
She added, “Today we bear witness, not only to the successful completion of our program, but to the rise of a new generation of skilled professionals, equipped, empowered, ready to contribute meaningfully to the workplace, the economy, and the society at large.”
The training has provided essential workforce skills to both youth and adults throughout Dominica, aligning with the nation’s resilience and development ambitions, stated the release.
