By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 44-year-old farmer from Gardenia Village is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with possession of unlicensed ammunition.
Evan Lincoln Moody, a resident of Mile 22 on the Philip Goldson Highway, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Ludlow Black in Court #1 on Tuesday afternoon. He was read a single charge of keeping ammunition without a gun license after police allegedly discovered seven 12-gauge cartridges inside his home.

According to police, on Monday, May 5, at around 9:15 p.m., police received a report of a male individual threatening residents in Gardenia Village. Quick Response Team (QRT) officers, along with Sandhill Police, responded to the call and observed a man—later identified as Moody—fleeing into nearby bushes.
Police subdued Moody and escorted him to his home, where officers conducted a search. Inside a bedroom, officers reportedly found a gray school bag containing seven 12-gauge live rounds of ammunition, consisting of various brands including Sellier & Bellot and Aguila.
Moody denied having any knowledge of the ammunition and pleaded not guilty in court. However, due to the serious nature of the offense, bail was denied, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date on July 1, 2025.
If convicted, Moody faces stringent penalties as Belize’s firearm and ammunition laws carry heavy sentences for unlicensed possession.
