By Breaking Belize News Staff: Anthony Allen, now 23, pleaded guilty on Wednesday at the High Court to a charge of assault of a child by penetration. The charge stems from an incident on April 13, 2019, when Allen, then 17, molested a 7-year-old child. The victim is now 13 years old and was spared from testifying due to the plea bargain.
Appearing with his attorney, Abibi Moguel of L.L. Jones & Associates, Allen changed his initial not guilty plea to guilty. A plea bargain agreement recommended a sentence of time served, as Allen has spent the last two years on remand at the Belize Central Prison. The recommendation also includes two years of counseling and a two-year suspended sentence.

However, Justice Candace Nanton adjourned the case until June 26, 2025. The court is awaiting a Social Inquiry Report to determine the specific type of counseling Allen will undergo. Allen will also be required to report to the High Court every six months to provide updates on his counseling sessions.
Allen will remain incarcerated at the Belize Central Prison until the court finalizes the details of his counseling. He was initially granted High Court bail but was later remanded after violating his bail conditions.
