Acting Commissioner of Police Lincoln Corbette assured the public that police will spare no effort to ensure that all individuals involved in the recent fatal shooting in Roseau that resulted in the death of Goodwill resident Kimon Emmanuel and the attempted murder of Shian Sabroache will be brought to justice.
“We continue to investigate this matter vigorously and we spare no effort to ensure that all perpetrators in this matter are brought to justice,” Corbette said during a press conference held on Thursday.
He emphasized that the use of firearms in the commission of crimes is a matter of great concern to law enforcement.
“A zero tolerance approach will be adopted in tackling issues of crimes in Dominica,” he remarked.
Corbette continued, “We will intensify certain aspects of our crime prevention unit and no effort will be spared in the fight against crime and reducing crime in Dominica.”
Earlier this week the police formally charged Jerren Sebastian, a male adult of Belfast, Mahaut in connection to the fatal shooting of Emmanuel and attempted murder of Sabroache.
According to previous police reports, the Major Crime Unit of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has been actively investigating the April 27 incident, which occurred in Roseau. As part of their probe, law enforcement officials arrested six individuals related to the case.
Among them, Sebastien has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. He has since been remanded in custody at the state prison as legal proceedings continue.
Despite this recent development, police officials confirm that additional suspects remain at large. The CDPF is calling upon members of the general public to assist in the investigation by providing any relevant information that may aid in locating and apprehending the remaining individuals.
