There’s something magnetic about the Christiansted Boardwalk on St. Croix. It’s not just a place—it’s a vibe, a rhythm, a living postcard of Caribbean life. Stretching along the harbor, this wooden promenade is where history, culture, and island energy converge, making it arguably the coolest boardwalk in the Caribbean, at least in my opinion.
Christiansted itself is a town steeped in history, with its 18th-century Danish colonial architecture and cobblestone streets (and the stunning Fort Christiansvaern). The boardwalk serves as the town’s lively artery, pulsating with the sounds of local music and the aroma of diverse cuisines, from the veggie burgers at Shupe’s to the lobster at Nate’s Boathouse.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the boardwalk transforms. Locals and visitors alike gather to witness the breathtaking sunsets that paint the sky in hues of orange and pink. Bars like Rum Runners and Brew STX become hubs of activity, offering signature cocktails like the “Peanut Colada.”

The boardwalk isn’t just about leisure; it’s also a launchpad for adventure. From here, you can embark on snorkeling trips to Buck Island Reef National Monument or take a sunset cruise around Christiansted Harbor.
But it’s really a cultural crossroads. It’s where the island’s rich history meets its vibrant present, where the rhythms of steel pan fill the air, and where every sunset feels like a celebration.

In the Caribbean, boardwalks are rare — and they’re more than just walkways—they’re stages for life. And in Christiansted, that stage is set for an unforgettable experience.
And then there’s our favorite part of the boardwalk: the world-class tiki bar. This is Breaker’s Roar, the nautical-themed tiki bar that is the boardwalk’s most unique hotspot. Think classic mai tais and forward-thinking cocktails like the “rag and bone,” a mix of everything from rye to bitters to Plantation Barbados rum, a place we’ve loved since it first opened.

This is all without mentioning that beach bar. You know, the one just across the water, set on Protestant Cay. You hop on a tiny “beach taxi” on the boardwalk, shuttle over and jump right into a painkiller, with a beautiful stretch of white sand beach and views right back to the promenade.
It’s one of our favorites in the region (since it first opened), and it’s a must-stop when you come to the boardwalk. For an hour, or half a day, it’s your own private island.

Because here on the boardwalk in Christiansted, you’re never bored, and you’re instantly immersed in St Croix’s unrivaled vibes.
There’s nothing quite like it.
