By Aaron Humes: September doesn’t seem so far away looking from the other side of June, and so the National Celebrations Commission is beginning preparations for Belize’s biggest annual party.
This afternoon Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner, Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller, City Councilors, and Youth Shadow Councilors gathered alongside Minister Francis Fonseca and members of the National Celebrations Commission for the highly anticipated launch of the official theme for Belize’s 44th Independence Celebrations.

That theme is “Belize@44: Stronger Together, Rising Forever,” co-submitted by David Peña and Holly Vasquez, which encapsulates the spirit of unity and resilience among Belizeans as the nation prepares for a month-long celebration this September.
As September approaches, Belizeans can anticipate a plethora of cultural activities, parades, and community events designed to highlight the rich heritage and vibrant energy that define the nation. The call is clear for everyone to join in the festivities, showcasing national pride that is bold, festive, and proudly Belizean.
This year September 10 is a Wednesday, while Independence Day is a holiday weekend with the date itself falling on a Sunday.
