By Aaron Humes: Yasser Musa’s Imagination Factri has announced the launch of “IMAGINEaSTORIES,” a groundbreaking 137-page eBook and art installation created by Musa. This significant event marks Musa’s first public solo exhibition since 2009 and celebrates his decades-long journey in the arts, which began in 1989.
“IMAGINEaSTORIES” features a curated collection of 102 Facebook posts penned by Musa from 2008 to 2025. This extensive compilation captures 17 years of his insights, critiques, and storytelling, covering a diverse array of topics including art, history, technology, politics, education, and culture. The second book is titled “Yasser Musa Works,” a 400-page collection of art pieces by Musa. As Musa explains, “It is a duality, one book of text, one book of images. In addition to that, I made an art installation of works involving found objects, things that inspire me – for example, ashes from the [Queen Street] Baptist Church fire; you might think that is very morbid but for me the Baptist Church is a special landmark, it’s where people after the emancipation [of slaves] in 1838 went to celebrate in a spiritual context…”

Guest speakers included poet Sean Taegar, artist Katie Usher and historian Delmer Tzib, sharing their perspectives on Musa’s work and contribution to Belizean culture. Usher, who studied under Musa at St. John’s College Junior College, noted that he is a teacher and family man first and foremost but also a mentor, whether lending books or moulding the current generation of Belizean artists.
The project coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Imagination Factri, a creative hub founded by Musa in June 1995. The choice of the eBook highlights how contemporary culture and memory are documented and accessed in an increasingly digital world.
Musa has taught art, history, and literature for nearly three decades at St. John’s College and served as the inaugural president of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), while concurrently serving as director of the Imagination Factri.
