
On August 28, 2025, the Caribbean Music Awards took center stage at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, marking a historic moment for Dominica’s music scene. In a groundbreaking achievement, LittleBoy, Quan, and Trilla G collectively claimed the coveted Soca Collaboration of the Year award for their hit song “Someone Else.”
The award ceremony, attended by well-known entertainment figures from across the Caribbean, is billed by organizers as “dedicated to recognizing, honoring, and celebrating the talented individuals who have made meaningful contributions to Caribbean music and culture.”
A Bouyon track winning in the Soca category is a noteworthy,states Leroy “Wadix” Charles.
“A Bouyon track winning a Soca category is not just a trophy, it’s proof of Bouyon’s strength, resilience, and diversity. It is a statement that Bouyon is no longer confined; it is shaping the soundscape of the region,” he said in a statement emphasizing the significance of this achievement.
Charles offered his congratulations to the winners, “Congratulations to The Quan, LittleBoy, and Trilla G,” he stated.
Dominica Festivals Committee also extended its commendations, highlighting the importance of the accomplishment in elevating Dominica’s musical reputation.
“The Nature Island continues to make its mark on the regional stage,” said a Facebook post from the DFC.
Additionally, the awards recognized other prominent Dominican artists and groups. Mr. Ridge, crowned Bouyon Artist of the Year for the second consecutive time, as well as nominees like TK International, Asa Bantan, Pudaz, Kenny G, Shelly & Signal Band, and the World Creole Music Festival.
Special acknowledgment was given by Wadix to Jael Joseph and her team, for ” boldly stepping onto the red carpet and giving Dominica a voice and presence where it matters most. This is how we claim our seat at the table, through visibility, professionalism, and fearless representation.”
