By Aaron Humes: For the “crime” of his alleged abduction, the imprisoned Joseph Budna says Commissioner of Police Dr Richard Rosado should lose his job.
Speaking to Channel 7 News via his attorney from Guatemala, the 45-year-old asked if Dr Rosado can be trusted with his job if he is being accused of leading or at least sanctioning the abduction of a fellow citizen. What’s more, he says, he can still influence the investigation: “How is it that someone smaller than the Commissioner be appointed to investigate?”
Addressing the Prime Minister, he added, “What is hard…to appoint an independent body to investigate this?” adding that he has no faith in Assistant Commissioner Suzette Anderson specifically and in the Department generally to investigate themselves. He reiterated that his removal benefited the administration and that “political figures” are involved, particularly those he claims to “expose” publicly.
While today’s announced measures are “not good enough” in his view, he is at least satisfied that one of the accused officers was placed on interdiction, and he demands the release of the surveillance video from the surrounding buildings to confirm his story.
