By Aaron Humes: Police say there were no major incidents reported on Saturday in Belize City, likely because swarms of officers were deployed to ensure that the Carnival Road March went off without a hitch.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch, made note of two major reports: “There were small incidents of small fights, however, persons were detained. Also of note is that searches were conducted on a male person at the BTL park, where he was found with a 9mm pistol along with 15 live rounds. This person has been arrested and charged for kept firearm and ammunition and he’s a minor.”

The minor, 14, was not known to police, Romero added, and was busted following an altercation to which police responded, after which several persons were searched, and he was allegedly found with the weapon. In court, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He was remanded to the New Beginning facility at Mile 21 on the George Price Highway.
