Police are investigating a potential link between the early hours arrest of a masked man in a business property in George Town and a spate of similar raids in the capital.
Police caught the 34-year-old, from George Town, inside a building on South Church Street at about 4:45am on Saturday, 15 Nov.
A police spokesman said the man fled on foot after officers, alerted by a 911 call, arrived at the scene, but he was caught and arrested on suspicion of burglary.
He is still in custody for further investigation.
The spokesman confirmed that there was a possible connection and the six raids on George Town premises over the last few days.
In a separate incident on Friday, a joint operation between police and other agencies seized firearms, ammunition and illegal drugs from a home in West Bay on Friday, 14 Nov.
Police said two handguns, “a large quantity” of ganja, liquid believed to be hash oil and other suspect items were found.
A man, 40, and a woman, 34, were arrested on suspicion of possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of ammunition and possession of ganja with intent to supply.
They also face charges of possession of ganga and consumption of the drug.
The man was held in custody and the woman was released on bail pending further police investigations.
The West Bay raid also involved Customs and Border Control officers, Department of Agriculture personnel and firefighters.
