The family of a baby girl born three-months premature and weighing only 1.5lbs is seeking financial support for her continued care.
A GoFundMe page has been opened to help cover the medical costs of the child, nicknamed ‘tiny but mighty’ by her family.
Gabriella Pierson and Andrew Beauchene were not expecting their first child until February of next year.
After complications with the pregnancy, the baby was born in November and immediately flown to Florida for emergency care.
Now the family says she is doing well, has doubled in weight and is getting stronger every day, though she remained in neonatal intensive care.
Though the couple has health insurance it does not cover the full extent of the medical bills and other expenses.
They have launched a GoFundMe page and are asking people to consider making a donation.
In a statement to the Compass on behalf of the family, Yasmane Tibbetts-Beauchene, the baby’s grandmother, said, “The family of baby girl Beauchene is pleased to update that she is doing well and making great progress daily. She is still receiving specialised care in Florida and they are not yet sure of when she will be released from the hospital.
“They are grateful to God, loved ones and the community for all the support and prayers they have received during this time.”
