By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has announced a transitional tariff freeze for telecommunications services following its final determination on market dominance in the sector.
In a press release issued on March 12, 2026, the PUC said the freeze will be implemented under the Belize Telecommunications (Transitional Tariff Freezing) Regulations, 2026.

The measure applies to tariffs charged by Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL), which the commission identified as the dominant operator in relevant telecommunications markets.
Under the regulations, tariffs will remain at the levels previously approved by the PUC and cannot be changed without prior approval from the commission.
The tariff freeze will remain in effect from March 11, 2026 to December 31, 2028.
PUC officials say the move is intended to maintain price stability while broader regulatory frameworks are developed following the market dominance determination.
