The names of the nine contestants who will compete in this year’s National Carnival Queen Pageant have been announced.
They were chosen from a field of hopefuls who auditioned before a panel of judges at the National Cultural Centre on March 8.
The delegates announced by the Carnival Planning and Management Committee and the National Carnival Queen Pageant Committee are:
Eudoxia Poleon – Desruisseaux, Micoud
Sydney James – Ciceron, Castries
Faith Edward – Ciceron, Castries
Nyaley Lewis – Dennery
Shernette Rameau – Aux Leon, Mabouya Valley
Darlene Francis – La Clery, Castries
Adel Montoute – Gros Islet
Derrelle DuBois – Grand Riviere, Gros Islet
Simone Sonson – Gros Islet
In the coming weeks, they are expected to be involved in several engagements, including the sashing ceremony, where they will meet their sponsors, the organisers said.
The 72nd instalment of the National Carnival Queen Pageant, part of Lucian Carnival, will be held on July 4 at the Pavilion on Rodney Bay.
The reigning Carnival queen is Emerle Tisson, Miss Bank of Saint Lucia.
