The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has issued a stern warning to members of the public following reports that political campaign materials are being deliberately removed, defaced, and destroyed in several communities.
According to police, the matter has drawn the attention of the Commissioner and senior officers, who have described the incidents as unlawful and a direct threat to the integrity of the democratic process—particularly during the current election period.
Authorities stressed that campaign posters, flyers, and billboards that are lawfully placed by political parties or their representatives are protected under the law. Any attempt to interfere with them is considered a criminal offence.
The Police have warned individuals to immediately cease such actions, noting that surveillance efforts have been heightened in affected areas. Officials say anyone caught removing or damaging campaign materials—whether through video evidence or credible reports—will face arrest and prosecution.
In addition, the Force is calling on political leaders across all parties to encourage their supporters to act responsibly and within the law, as tensions rise in the lead-up to the April 30 general election.
