The Vector Control Unit of the Ministry of Health and Wellness will concentrate its mosquito reduction programme in St James this week.
On Monday, May 5, the team will visit Heleconia Drive; Wanstead Heights; Wanstead Terrace Avenues 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1, Rose Drive; Carnation Drive, Lilly Drive, Alamanda Drive, Desert Rose Drive, West Side Close, Catalina Avenue, Azalea Close, Orchid Drive, Husbands Heights, Wanstead Gardens, Husbands Terrace, Abbey Stone Drive and surrounding areas.
The following day, Tuesday, May 6, Wanstead Terrace Avenues 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 11, West View Court, Oxnards, Cherry Drive, West Terrace North Heights and West Terrace Gardens Nos. 1 to 16 will be targeted for fogging.
The Unit will turn its attention to West Wood Close, Ricks Road, Independence Drive Avenues 1 to 9, Pelican Avenue, West Wood Park, West Wood Lane, 11th Avenue Desert Rose Ridge, Sugar Cane Avenue, Independence Close, Tulip Drive, Croton Drive and Blue Bell Drive on Wednesday, May 7.
Then on Thursday, May 8, the following areas will be sprayed: Bagatelle, Bagatelle Gardens, Redman’s Village, Kew Land, Welches, Cecelia’s Garden and Terrace Loop.
The fogging exercise will conclude for the week on Friday, May 9, in Prior Park Terrace, Bagatelle Park, Hill View Circle, Halls Village, Prior Park Heights and environs.
Fogging takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Householders are reminded to open their windows and doors to allow the spray to enter. Children should not be allowed to play in the fog.
Members of the public are advised that the completion of scheduled fogging activities may be affected by events beyond the Unit’s control. In such circumstances, the Unit will return to communities affected in the soonest possible time. (KNB/BGIS)
