Chris Dehring, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has praised the Government of Grenada for its ongoing enhancements to the Grenada National Cricket Stadium, which is set to host the highly awaited West Indies vs. Australia Test match from July 3-7, 2025. This event signifies the exciting revival of international cricket in the Tri-Island nation, stated CWI in a press release.
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Dehring, along with CWI President Dr. Kishore Shallow and Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe, visited the stadium, guided by Honourable Delma Thomas, the Minister of Sport, who shared details about the ongoing upgrades. After the tour, Dehring voiced his approval of the facility’s development, remarking, “The Government of Grenada’s investment in this venue is commendable on multiple levels. Quality infrastructure is essential not only for maintaining high standards of play but also for enhancing the overall fan experience. Given that, I’m very pleased with the ongoing rehabilitation efforts. The work being done is of a high standard, and I’m satisfied with the facility’s condition at this stage.”
He went on to say, “Once the lights are in place, this facility could become a key venue for day/night Test cricket in the future, adding a new dimension to international matches in Grenada. I must also share; these are some of the most impressive screens I’ve seen anywhere in the world.”
With these upgrades, Grenada is solidifying its status as a premier cricketing hub in the region, poised to welcome international cricket at the highest level once again, shared the release.
