After a 15-year absence, the Logos Hope—the world’s largest floating book fair—has returned to Dominica, drawing over 30,000 visitors on board since its arrival.
The figure was disclosed to Dominica News Online (DNO) during an exclusive interview on Friday with the ship’s Communications Manager, Navya Pauline.
Docked at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth, the Logos Hope opened its doors to the Dominican public from July 2 to July 13, 2025. The ship, which carries more than 5,000 book titles, offers visitors the opportunity to purchase quality literature and participate in a variety of onboard events.
“It’s such a pleasure and privilege to be here after 15 long years, and we can actually feel that we are genuinely welcome here,” Pauline said. “Thank you so much. Just to give a little bit of numbers—we’ve been open since the 2nd of July and we have two more days. We will be open until Sunday, the 13th of July, and so far we have welcomed 30,500 people on board the Logos Hope.”
Pauline described the visit as a resounding success, noting the ship’s engagement with local communities and organizations.
“It’s been amazing. We welcomed a lot of families and individuals. We also hosted many events on board and partnered with several local organizations and communities. We’ve even sent people onshore to participate in various projects,” she said.
Looking ahead, Pauline confirmed that the Logos Hope intends to return to Dominica in the future.
“Next time it won’t take us 15 years,” she assured. “I don’t know when for sure—it’s not confirmed—but I’m pretty sure it will be sooner than before.”
She encouraged the public to take advantage of the ship’s final two days in port.
“I would really like to encourage people to come. The world’s largest floating book fair is in Dominica, so please come,” Pauline urged. “You have two more days until Sunday, so bring your families and friends. It’s going to be exciting.”
In addition to its extensive book collection, the Logos Hope has hosted a range of events, including ‘Meet the World’ activities for children and a special workshop for teachers.
“That’s not something we always do, but for this port, we held a workshop specifically for teachers who came on board and received training. It was really nice to see,” Pauline explained.
Today, Saturday, July 12, the ship hosted an event titled Into the Marketplace, aimed at individuals in the business sector.
“That would be really nice for someone who’s interested and in the field,” she said. “The event is happening on the ship. All they need to do is buy a ticket at the welcome desk of the book fair. The ticket price is 15 XCD.”
Following its departure from Dominica on Monday, July 14, the Logos Hope will head to Kingston, Jamaica, and then to Montego Bay, where it will remain for approximately three weeks.
During its stay in Dominica, the ship operated from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM, and on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It was closed on Mondays. Admission was free for children under 12, while adults paid EC$3.00.
