By Zoila Palma: On February 10, 2026, Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defence and Border Security, conducted an official visit to the Southern Tactical Area of Responsibility, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to national security and frontline readiness.
Minister Marin was accompanied by Commander Belize Defence Force Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez, Commandant Belize Coast Guard Rear Admiral Gregory Soberanis, and the Commanding Officers of the 1st and 2nd Infantry Battalions, Lieutenant Colonel Ermil Coh and Lieutenant Colonel Justo Veliz.
Minister Marin engaged with troops on the ground, assessed operational conditions, and reinforced support for the men and women safeguarding Belize’s sovereignty.
