By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize enters Week 4 of the 2026 Closing Championship with three matches on the schedule — and league‑leaders Progresso FC getting the weekend off after their strong start to the season.
Saturday, February 7 — Napoles FC vs Verdes FC
7:30 pm — FFB Stadium, Belmopan
The weekend’s marquee matchup sees unbeaten Napoles FC hosting defending Opening Season champions Verdes FC. Napoles have shown resolve and consistency through their first three outings, but they now face a Verdes side that has been perfect so far and is coming off a commanding 4–1 win over Benque United.
With both clubs sitting near the top of the standings — and Progresso idle — this clash carries early implications for the race at the summit.
Sunday, February 8 — Wagiya vs Belmopan FC
4:00 pm — Carl Ramos Stadium, Dangriga
Wagiya return home still searching for their first points of the season. They meet a Belmopan FC team boosted by a 6–3 victory over Port Loyola. Belmopan have shown they can score in bunches, while Wagiya will be looking to stabilize defensively and spark their campaign.
Sunday, February 8 — Port Loyola vs Benque Viejo United
4:00 pm — Marion Jones Sports Complex, Belize City
Both teams enter needing a response. Port Loyola have struggled to find rhythm, while Benque United are coming off a tough loss to Verdes. With both sides near the bottom of the table, this matchup offers a crucial chance to climb back into contention.
Week 4 promises intensity across all three venues — even with Progresso resting — as teams fight to position themselves before the midpoint of the Closing Championship.
