In response to an appeal from the Chantimelle Fire Victims Relief Committee (CHANTIVIC), Southern Electrical Company Ltd., Grenada’s leading provider of electrical and lighting solutions has donated $10,000 worth of electrical and wiring supplies.
These materials will be used in the electrical installation of 5 concrete houses currently under construction, replacing homes lost in a devastating fire in March 2024.
During a brief handing-over ceremony held at the company’s premises, Llewelyn Duncan, Managing Director of Southern Electrical, emphasised the company’s commitment to community support. “Giving back is one of the hallmarks of our company,” Duncan stated. “Making this decision was easy. We hope this donation helps bring the affected families one step closer to returning to normalcy.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the committee, Faith Phillip, Chairperson of CHANTIVIC, expressed sincere gratitude to the company. “The installation of these materials brings us significantly closer to completing the homes. This is a hopeful and forward-looking moment for the families,” she said. Solange Logie, another committee member, accompanied Phillip at the event.
The reconstruction of the homes is being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for St Patrick West Hon. Joseph Andall who established the relief committee to lead fundraising efforts. The initiative has received strong support from both corporate citizens and private individuals.
Those interested in contributing to this rebuilding project can make financial donations to account number 211000717 at the Grenada Co-operative Bank. For wire transfers, please use the SWIFT address: GROAGDGD.
