The Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM)-led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has entered into a significant partnership with St. Kitts-Nevis Cable Communications Ltd. (The Cable), marking the introduction of Nevis’s third telecommunications service provider.
The agreement, signed on April 23, 2025, represents a historic milestone, as it will be the first time The Cable extends its services beyond St. Kitts. The expansion is expected to bring increased competition, improved service, and greater affordability to Nevisian consumers.
Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, hailed the partnership as part of his administration’s commitment to proactive economic development.
“Offering an alternative provider augurs well for better pricing, service, and quality,” Premier Brantley stated. “As we continue to build our economy, this kind of innovation is essential.”
The Cable will operate on the NIA’s locally-owned fibre backbone, a move that ensures Nevis retains sovereign control of its core digital infrastructure. This arrangement is designed not only to improve service delivery, but also to retain economic benefits within the local economy.
Premier Brantley also emphasised the broader significance of the partnership, noting that it positions the NIA to earn vital revenue while sending a strong signal of investor confidence in the Nevis economy.
“This shows tremendous faith in the future of Nevis,” he said. “Significant investment continues to flow in from both local and overseas sources.”
The Cable, well known for its high-speed internet and television services, is expected to announce its first Nevisian customer in the coming weeks, officially launching its operations on the island.
The initiative is seen as a key part of the CCM-led administration’s commitment to innovation, inclusion, and economic empowerment in the digital age.
