by Grenada Food and Nutrition Council
The Grenada Food and Nutrition Council (GFNC) is excited to announce the 3rd annual Supermarket Sweep, taking place on 7 May 2025, at Kalico Supermarket in Grenville.

This dynamic, free event invites mother-child teams to participate in an engaging and educational shopping experience, designed to promote healthier food choices and build confidence in navigating nutrition labels together. The event’s theme is “Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Fun, Family-Friendly Shopping Challenge.”
Understanding nutrition labels is key to making informed decisions in today’s world, where supermarket shelves are filled with a variety of packaged goods. The Supermarket Sweep, led by GFNC nutritionists and officers, provides a hands-on approach to decoding food labels and selecting nutritious options that promote long-term wellness.
How to participate
To qualify for the Supermarket Sweep, interested mothers must attend a guided supermarket tour on 22 April, where GFNC team members will teach participants how to navigate nutrition labels and identify healthier products. Tour sessions will be held from 10:30 am to 12 noon.
At the end of the tours, 5 lucky participants will be randomly selected to take part in the Supermarket Sweep on 7 May, from 10:30 am to 12 noon.
Strengthening partnerships for healthier living
This initiative not only educates Grenadians on healthier food selection but also fosters collaboration between local supermarkets, corporate sponsors, and the community. Through these partnerships, the GFNC continues to create meaningful opportunities to encourage better nutrition and overall wellness.
