Three Antiguans from Sagicor General Insurance (SGI) dominated their category at the company’s 2024 Annual Awards ceremony, demonstrating the strength of the local insurance sector.
Held on April 12 at Sandals Resort in Grenada, the event recognized top performers across Sagicor’s operations in the Eastern Caribbean and Belize under the theme “Iconic – Excellence in Action.”
Dierdre George, Senior Underwriter at Sagicor General Insurance’s Antigua branch, emerged as a standout performer by claiming both Contributor of the Year and Employee of the Year awards for SGI.
Gemma Howell, Manager at the Antigua branch, was named Manager of the Year, while Aliyah Rayne, Client Support Representative, secured the Rookie of the Year title, completing Antigua’s sweep of all Sagicor General Insurance categories.
Robert Trestrail, Group President and CEO of Sagicor Life Inc, congratulated the awardees during the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of their contributions.

The event also recognized top performers from Sagicor Life, with Grenadian advisor Sonika McKie winning Advisor of the Year among several other awards. Sagicor Life Grenada was named Unit of the Year and Agency of the Year for Annual Premium Income and Cases.
Meanwhile, Sagicor Life St Kitts and Nevis won the General Agency award for the second consecutive year under Agency Manager Denrick Connor.
In total, 38 team members were recognized for their long service to the company, which is celebrating 145 years of business in 2025.
Two employees from St Lucia, Maureen Lionel and Veronica Poleon, were honoured for 35 years of service.
Mark Prescott, Vice-President of Insurance Operations at Sagicor General Insurance Inc, praised the honourees for going “beyond policies and premiums to provide security, trust and hope” and for building meaningful connections with clients.
The annual awards ceremony brought together Sagicor employees from across the region and senior management to celebrate achievements and reinforce the company’s values of excellence, integrity, and customer service.
