As Political Leader of the New National Party (NNP), and on behalf of the executive, members, and supporters of the NNP, I extend warm congratulations to the Prime Minister-Elect of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, on her election victory.
As the first woman to ever lead the New National Party, I am personally heartened to witness another woman ascend to one of the highest offices in our region. May this moment, serve as an inspiration to women and girls across the Caribbean to believe in their voices, to rise in service to their nations, and to shape policies and progress with integrity, compassion, and strength. It is a powerful reminder that the leadership landscape continues to expand, making room for more women to serve, to lead, and to inspire.
We recognise the democratic choice made by the people of Trinidad and Tobago and wish the new government every success as they undertake the noble task of national leadership.
The New National Party remains committed to deepening and strengthening regional ties across Caricom.
