The Grenada Arts Council (GAC) is pleased and encouraged to hear about artist John Henry being a featured artist at the Embassy of Grenada in Washington, DC, USA.
We have noted that he has been active, present, and always striving for excellence within the local art community for over 10 years. We know that John Henry will continue to be an example to other young artists on how to build their careers with dedication.
The release from the embassy follows.
“John Henry is a young, self-taught Grenadian Artist from Westerhall, St David. John discovered his love and passion for visual arts at the age of 12. In 2015, John started a serious path to art by partaking in different art exhibitions in Grenada, including the Grenada Contemporary Art Show, which provided exposure for the young artist.
John uses mainly acrylic mediums to capture beautiful paintings in portraits, still life and landscape. His inspiration comes from his love of nature, music, his interaction with people and carnival, especially J’Ouvert, and he often paints one J’Ouvert piece every year. John’s paintings capture the essence and vibrance of his subject through his eyes.
John is an Art Teacher, a part-time Photographer/Videographer, and paints for guests at local hotels as requested. John is the fifth of seven siblings. He aspires to do book illustrations, own his art studio in the future and wants to take his art beyond the shores of his beloved Grenada.”
