Fun and Fitness: EmBodhi National Fitness Expo

Saturday, 28 June saw Morne Rouge Playing Field transformed into a hub of high energy, community spirit, and fitness fun, thanks to the EmBodhi National Fitness Expo powered by ACB Grenada Bank.

From 12 to 5 pm, families, fitness lovers, and curious onlookers came together to celebrate health and wellness in true Grenadian style. The day was packed with crowd favourites like the classic three-legged race and the always-exciting lime and spoon race, bringing nostalgic charm and laughter to the field.

But it wasn’t just about fun and games — the expo offered a full range of fitness activities open to all. Highlights included a powerful callisthenics demonstration by the talented Bar Twins, an energetic Zumba session with the ever-vibrant Irma Clarke, and a grounding Pilates workout led by Frances Chalmers. Participants of all ages and fitness levels jumped in, proving that movement truly is for everyone.

The climax of the day came during the highly anticipated Knockout Fitness Challenge, which saw athletes from across disciplines — including bodybuilding, swimming, callisthenics, and throwing sports — push their limits in a gruelling 4-round contest. Events included a 2-mile run, push-up showdown, plank endurance challenge, and an explosive final round of sprints and compound movements. The competition tested not only physical strength but also mental resilience, earning loud cheers and applause from the crowd. A special thank you is extended to New Bodies Personal Training Studio and Island Bamcee, who spearheaded the running of this Knockout Fitness Challenge.

Wellness meets community

Adding even more value to the experience, the event featured a wide array of local vendors in the health and wellness fields, offering products, services, and expert advice. Some of the local vendors included Fit Foods selling healthy meal options, Convenient Market with local produce, Fruittimoss Grenada with seamoss infused drinks and even Cocoa Pod Botanicals which sells locally made skincare products. Sporting clubs and organisations, including the Sickle Cell Association and the Sports Medicine Association, were also on hand with educational booths and resources. These stalls highlighted the wealth of local opportunities available in Grenada for those looking to improve their health, join a club, or learn more about wellness and preventative care.

List of stalls present: Grenada Sports Medicine Association, GPPA Youth Advocacy Movement, Odessey Timing & Events, Grenada NADO, Simply Nutrition, Mt. Parnassus Plantation, Cocoa Pod Botanicals, Fruittimoss Grenada, Grenada Rugby Union, Sickle Cell Association of Grenada, Convenient Market, Grenada Hockey, Fit For Life Medical Services & Mitchell’s Health and Wellness The Pharmacy, KC Kids Supply, Natural Foods, Fit Foods, Child Protection Authority, Grenada Sports Council and the Ministry of Health.

The visionaries behind the movement

The driving force behind the event was the dynamic team of Valorie Andrew, Tiffany Gordon, and Kevlian Andrew, co-founders of EmBodhi, a local business focused on personal development in the areas of physical, mental, and financial health. Through past events on topics such as vegan eating, work-life balance, and investing in Grenada, the trio continues to empower the community to live fuller, healthier lives. This expo marked another successful chapter in their mission.

A heartfelt “Thank You”

EmBodhi extends sincere gratitude to all who attended, participated, and cheered from the sidelines — you made this day unforgettable. A special thanks goes to our incredible sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible:

ACB Grenada Bank, The National Sports Council, Ansa Coatings, Sol EC, The Power Lab, IMA Grenada, Flow, Carib Brewery, Blue Bubbles, Go2Fete, Real Value IGA, Esther’s Bar, Haylup, Utopia Corner, and Geo. F Huggins & Co.

Your contributions powered everything from exciting giveaways to seamless event execution.

Looking ahead

EmBodhi promises this is just the beginning. Plans are already in motion for next year’s expo, with even more activities, competitions, and surprises. Mark your calendars, start training, and get ready to be a part of Grenada’s growing movement for health, empowerment, and community.

Until then — keep moving, keep growing, keep healthy!

EmBodhi
