Police have confiscated a quantity of cannabis during two separate drug operations conducted on October 22.
Around 2:15 p.m., according to reports, members of the Narcotics Department, K-9 Unit, and Customs Enforcement conducted a joint interdiction operation at the Cargo Shed at V.C. Bird International Airport where two brown cardboard boxes were searched, and 37 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis were discovered.
The packages allegedly weighed a total of 37 pounds and carried an estimated street value of $222,000. The boxes and their contents along with a female were taken to Police Headquarters as investigations continue.
Earlier that day between 9 am and 11 am, officers from the Narcotics Department and K-9 Unit carried out searches at the East Bus Station and at Dickenson Bay Beach.
Further reports are that during the operation, a police dog reportedly detected an electric bike, which was searched in the presence of its owner.
Reportedly two transparent plastic bags containing plant material resembling cannabis were found, and a from Swetes resident was taken into custody for further investigation.
